Deutsch is Professor of Economics at McGill University. Professor
Deutsch has been holding various academic administrative functions
at McGill University. A former Chair of the Department of Economics,
McGill University, he has served on the University Senate, the
Board of Governors, and the committee responsible for the McGill
University Pension Plan. He has been elected to serve as Chair
of the Pension Administration Committees for four years.
Professor Deutsch has been a Visiting Scholar at the Institute
of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore, and Honorary Research
Fellow, and subsequently a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University.
He was a member of Planning Committee and Study Group, University
Consortium for Research on North America, Harvard University.
As a team member of Harvard Institute of International Development,
he initiated a project on Hungary’s reform of the pension
and taxation system. Since 1992, as a Canadian International
Development Agency (CIDA) project, he has acted as an advisor
to the Hungarian Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Welfare
on pension reform. In recognition of this work, he was awarded
the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Republic of Hungary.
Professor Deutsch has been a consultant to the World Bank
in Hungary and in Lithuania. He is also a referee of various
journals, commentator in the press, radio, T.V. in Canada
and in Hungary. He is also a consultant to private industry.
Since 2000 he has been a member of Board, Hans and Eugenia
Jütting Foundation in Stendal, Germany.
